Meet Our Team

Dr. Hansen

Dr. Hansen grew up in Provo, Utah, and knew he wanted to be a veterinarian from a very early age when he first read James Herriot’s biographical novels. As a youngster, he cared for his family pets and as a Boy Scout he completed the Veterinary Science Merit Badge. He graduated from Timpview High School and after serving an LDS mission he went on to BYU where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. Dr. Hansen attended Veterinary Medical School at Washington State University, graduating with honors in 2001. He then attended Texas A&M University where he studied veterinary pathology from 2001 to 2003.

In 2003 he returned to Utah Valley and took over management of the veterinary hospital inside PetSmart in Orem in 2004. He left employment there in September 2010 to start A Caring Vet in Lindon, just north of Orem and just south of Pleasant Grove.

Dr. Hansen is an active member of the Utah Veterinary Medical Association and provides services for the North and South Utah Valley Animal Shelters.

Dr. Hansen believes the greatest thing about being a veterinarian is helping people get the most from their relationships with animals, and helping animals get the most from their relationships with people at the same time.

Dr. Hansen has always loved the outdoors, and the creatures that live there. Because of this interest, during his undergraduate studies he nearly completed a BS degree in Zoology, as well as a BS in Pre-Veterinary Science. This included spending summers assisting with wildlife field studies, on top of preparing for veterinary medical school. Now, A Caring Vet is pleased to provide services for Great Basin Wildlife Rescue in Springville, and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah in Ogden.

If you find an injured bird or other animal visit the links above, or call A Caring Vet at 801-785-6737 and we can help provide the care they need.

After graduation she completed her small animal medicine and surgical internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, California.  She was awarded the Intern of the Year distinction for her hard work and dedication to the program.
