What is urgent care for pets?
Urgent care is intended for pets with unexpected but non-life-threatening needs. While these conditions are not emergencies, they do benefit from timely attention and care. Examples of reasons to seek urgent care include:
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Allergies
- Limping
- Ear infection
- Toenail injury
- Minor wounds or insect bites
- Frequent thirst or urination
What is emergency care for pets?
Emergency care should be reserved for pets who require immediate life-saving care. These pets have experienced severe traumas or are in immediate danger or severe distress. Examples of pet emergencies include:
- Hit by a car
- Trouble breathing or choking
- Collapse or unresponsiveness
- Bloat (swollen belly, retching)
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Heat stroke
Urgent Care at A Caring Vet
A Caring Vet provides limited urgent care services during normal business hours. These appointments are typically scheduled on a first-call, first-served basis and fit in between regular appointments. If your pet’s condition is urgent, please call as early as possible so we can do our best to accommodate their needs.
